Headliner: Luv Locz – Caribbean Funk Reggae
Luv Locz Experiment is considered a collective of leaders on the Ohio Music Scene, more than just a band—it’s a movement. Rooted in the ethos that “Love Locks Us Together,” the collective unites members from Dayton and its sister city Cincinnati to create an eclectic and soulful sound. Drawing from diverse musical influences like reggae, funk, hip-hop, and jazz, Luv Locz Experiment crafts a genre-defying style they proudly call “Caribbean Funk.” This unique fusion honors the spiritual essence of reggae while embracing the infectious rhythms of funk, creating an authentic sound that resonates with audiences worldwide. From their original tunes to their twist on familiar favorites. Be prepared to be moved out of your seat and transported to the islands to dance your troubles away!

Several Jewish Genealogical Society of Illinois members will share family history discoveries and genealogy research tips in the annual “Kvell and Tell” session, Sunday, June 29, 2025, in a hybrid meeting at Temple Beth-El, 3610 Dundee Road, Northbrook, Illinois. The JGSI meeting facilities at Temple Beth-El will open at 12:30 p.m. CDT for those who want to use genealogy library materials, including maps; get help with family history websites, ask genealogical questions, or just chat, before the main program begins at 1:45 p.m. CDT. This two-day, high-energy, family-focused celebration is designed to become a lasting tradition. It features live music, fireworks both nights, local vendors, food trucks, fun zones, and an atmosphere that brings together people from across the region.

But what makes this event even more powerful is its purpose.

We’re Giving Back to Two Incredible Causes:

• Violence Prevention Center of Southwestern Illinois – Serving survivors in Monroe, St. Clair, and Randolph counties with shelter, advocacy, trauma support, and a growing presence in our Monroe County courthouse every day now.
  
• JB Patriot Pantry – Providing food and essentials for veterans and active military from both Missouri and Illinois, with a community-wide food drive to come.

Join us for our summer discussion series, "Who's on First?": What's Up with the First Amendment? Each week we'll focus on one of the freedoms enumerated in the Constitution. We'll talk about various Supreme Court decisions and the different ways these rights have been interpreted, in the past and in the present. We'll hash them out for ourselves, and decide what the Supreme Court got right and what they got wrong. Level up your citizenship game with us at Lincoln Library.

Headliner: Cedric Burnside - Blues
The official credit tells it like it is. “Recorded in an old building in Ripley, Mississippi” – that’s all the info we get, and all that we need. When Cedric Burnside prepared to record Hill Country Love, the follow-up to his 2021 Grammy-winning album I Be Trying, he set up shop in a former legal office located in a row of structures in the seat of Tippah County, a town with 5,000 residents that’s known as the birthplace of the Hill Country Blues style. Burnside is a recipient of a National Heritage Fellowship, the country’s highest honor in the folk and traditional arts and was recently recognized with the 2024 Mississippi Governor’s Art Award for Excellence in Music. He has performed and recorded with such diverse musicians as Jimmy Buffett, Bobby Rush, and Widespread Panic.

Headliner: Lee Fields – R&B Soul
There aren't too many artists making soul music today who had a release in 1969, back when R&B was first beginning to give the drummer some. Lee Fields, however, is one such artist--or maybe he's better labeled a phenomenon. Since the late sixties, the North Carolina native has amassed a prolific catalog of albums and has toured and played with such legends as Kool and the Gang, Sammy Gordon and the Hip-Huggers, O.V Wright, Darrell Banks, and Little Royal. With a career spanning 43 years, releases on twelve different record labels, and having toured the world over with his raucous-yet-tender voice, it's mind-blowing that the music he's making today with Brooklyn's own Truth & Soul Records is the best of his career.
