On Oct. 5, the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine will host its annual Open House, starting at 10 a.m. More than 40 informative booths and exhibits, featuring many live animals, will be spread throughout the veterinary campus. This family-friendly event doesn't require registration, and even parking is free! Refreshments, meals, and veterinary-themed apparel will be available for purchase.

Mortimer Brewster’s engagement announcement is upended when he discovers a corpse in his elderly aunts’ window seat. Mortimer rushes to tell Aunt Abby and Aunt Martha before they stumble upon the body themselves, only to learn that the two old women aren’t just aware of the dead man in their parlor, they killed him! An uproarious farce on plays involving murder, one learns there is nothing more poisonous than family!

A walk through Oak Ridge Cemetery. Actors in period costumes will tell personal stories of seven people buried at Oak Ridge Cemetery who made significant contributions to our community. GRIEFSHARE grief recovery and support group will meet at the Parish Hall at Trinity Lutheran School, 515 S. MacArthur Blvd., Springfield. The fall session will begin on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 from 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm and meets weekly for 13 weeks. GriefShare features nationally recognized experts on grief recovery topics including "Is This Normal?," "The Challenges of Grief," "Grief and Your Relationships," "Why," and "Guilt and Anger." Thanks to a grant from Thrivent Financial, the workbook fees for this session will be waived.
