Downtown Springfield

Launched in 2022, the Isringhausen DRIVE Grants has now awarded $150,000 to nine emerging businesses in downtown Springfield.

Nathan Peak, chef at The Foundry Kitchen inside of Anvil and Forge Brewing and Distilling, talks to Community Voices about his passion for making memorable food. He discusses what brought about his passion for cooking, and how his creativity has evolved over his years in the kitchen. Nathan also speaks about what is next on his culinary journey.

Monica Zanetti Reed is the founder of the Springfield Cultural Arts Foundation and the owner of Wild Rose Artisans Gallery & Boutique. Kristen Chiaro is a board member of the foundation. They spoke to Community Voices about the mission behind the Springfield Cultural Arts Foundation and its magazine, which uplifts local artists. They discuss the magazine’s rich content—from artist interviews to recipes and skincare tips—and share plans for a cultural street festival. They also share an update on Wild Rose boutique and how businesses are faring in the downtown area.

Safety precautions had prevented vehicles on the street as building demolition was taking place.

Flooding and damage to the elevator system is under investigation.

The public will have opportunities to learn more at several events.

The farmer's market is being moved slightly to allow it to be held Saturday morning.

The cause remains under investigation.

Geoff Isringhausen joined Community Voices to share a grant program Isringhausen Imports is helping fund in downtown Springfield. With Isringhausen Motorsports, Springfield is home to another auto racing team.

Holiday festivities are once again coming to downtown Springfield. Executive Director of the Springfield Memorial Foundation Melissa Hansen Schmadeke and Executive Director of Downtown Springfield Inc. Kayla Graven spoke to Community Voices about the holiday activities and shopping opportunities that will be available at the two downtown events, Old Capitol Holiday Walks and Memorial Holiday Fest.
