A coalition of Springfield proponents have come together to create a marketing campaign, My Heart's Downtown, a new grassroots campaign designed to uplift and energize Springfield’s downtown core. Leah Wilson (Kidzeum), Karen Conn (Conn Hospitality Group), and Jay Shanle (Downtown Springfield Inc. & Springfield Area Arts Council) share more.

The idea began as Kidzeum planned a free community “Love Day” for Valentine’s weekend but quickly grew when organizers realized many groups were already working toward the same goal. With downtown facing challenges—including recent business closures and the Adam Street fire—collaboration felt more important than ever. What emerged is a unified, community‑owned movement celebrating pride in downtown and encouraging residents to engage, visit, and participate.

Supporters will spot bright LED heart displays glowing in downtown windows, plus new merch, bumper stickers, and a giant photo‑ready heart sculpture near the Old State Capitol.

My Heart’s Downtown is intentionally open‑ended—an invitation for everyone to contribute. Whether through volunteering, attending events, beautifying the area, or simply sharing the message, community involvement is key to long‑term momentum.

With major projects underway—from the 2026 Levitt AMP Music Series to ongoing renovation of iconic buildings—leaders see 2026 as a turning point, and this campaign aims to help Springfieldians get there together.
