Jacob Dinardo returns to Community Voices to speak about his recent opening of Arrowroot Coffee Co. in downtown Springfield.
Seven years after roasting beans at home, Jacob DiNardo has officially planted roots in downtown Springfield. The founder of Arrowroot Coffee Company has opened a brick-and-mortar coffee roastery and lounge at 625 E. Adams—transforming the former Recycled Records building into a warm, community-focused gathering space.
DiNardo’s journey began with a tent at the farmers market, then a mobile espresso trailer, and now a full café just two blocks from the market that helped grow his following. His passion for coffee stretches back to childhood—pouring church coffee alongside his grandmother—before evolving into a deep commitment to specialty coffee, the top 5% of beans sourced globally. Today, Arrowroot features high-scoring coffees from farms around the world, including a Colombian co-op that pays growers above market rates.
Inside the café, customers can explore everything from adventurous single-origin roasts—like a peach and vanilla co-fermented Colombian—to crowd-pleasers like the popular Campfire S’mores Latte. The food menu includes house-baked oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, rotating muffins and bagels, and creative cream cheeses like chili crisp and dill pickle.
More than just a coffee stop, DiNardo envisions Arrowroot as a place to linger—play board games, read a book, and connect. With strong family support, community partnerships, and backing from a local DRIVE grant, his dream has become a downtown destination.
Arrowroot Coffee Co. is open Wednesday–Friday 7 a.m.–2 p.m., and Saturday–Sunday 8 a.m.–3 p.m.
