The Illinois State Police have arrested Springfield Police Officer Taylor Staff after a criminal investigation following allegations of misconduct.
Staff, a three-year veteran of the department, is charged with official misconduct, criminal sexual assault, and custodial sexual misconduct.
The alleged incidents occurred while Staff was on duty between January and July of 2020 and involved three separate victims.
Staff has been placed on unpaid administrative leave, pending the outcome of a Springfield Police Department internal affairs investigation.
He is being held at the Sangamon County Jail with a $250,000 cash bond.
"Allegations of this nature do not represent the morals and values of the Springfield Police Department or its membership," the Springfield Police Department said in a statement Wednesday. "Additionally, no individual is above the law and the Springfield Police Department will hold it members accountable at all times."
