Historian and author John Hallwas shares 'Forgotten Voices from Illinois History' | Community Voices

John Hallwas is a historian and author of the book “Forgotten Voices from Illinois History.” He is also the President of the Illinois State Historical Society. He spoke to Community Voices about his books, his favorite stories from Illinois history, and his speaking engagement on Sept. 13 titled “The Land and the People Hold Memories,” which is about a new statewide memoir writing project.

Vanessa was the Community Voices Production Coordinator at NPR Illinois from 2021-2025. She continues her passion for broadcasting as a co-host of the Beyond the Mouse podcast for the Front Row Network.
