Illinois Department of Revenue

There are efforts at the State Capitol to double the homestead tax exemption across Illinois.   Bill Wheelhouse talks with Mike Klemens, who does policy research for the Taxpayers' Federation of Illinois.

Klemens explains that the property tax exemption is & what communities benefit the most.

Klemens says while the proposal at the Capitol may not get approved, its possible that property taxes will be discussed in a final revenue proposal should budget talks reach that stage.

Bill is a former general manager, economy reporter, Harvest correspondent and Statehouse Bureau Chief for NPR Illinois. He has won several awards including the Associated Press Best Investigative Reporter.
