Join Mayor Misty Buscher and Ramona Metzger, director of the Office of Management and Budget, for a discussion on the city’s municipal budget, key priorities, and long-term needs. Angie Muhs, Citizens Club vice president, will serve as moderator.

Misty Buscher was elected Mayor of Springfield on April 4, 2023. She was sworn into office on May 5, 2023. Before being elected Mayor, she was the Springfield City Treasurer from 2015-2023. Prior to being the treasurer Misty spent twenty-five years working in the Springfield financial industry with her last financial position being Vice President of Marine Bank.

Misty enjoys volunteering in her community. She has been a board member of the Springfield Area Home Builders, Capital Area Realtors, Friends of Memorial, Veterans Memorial Fund, and Kings Daughters Organization. She has volunteered in the community with organizations such as The Red Cross, Boys & Girls Club, SPARC, March of Dimes, Compass for Kids, and Meals on Wheels.

She and her husband Mike, a small business owner, live on the North end of Springfield. They have two children, Anthony (Krystal) Buscher and Courtney Buscher. They are the proud grandparents of Beckham and Elessandra Buscher.

Ramona Metzger is the City of Springfield’s Director of the Office of Budget & Management. Prior to the Director appointment, with 10+ years of employment at the City, she was the City’s chief accountant last holding the position of Comptroller in the Office of Budget & Management. She also served as the Assistant Finance Director for the Department of Public Utilities, City Water, Light & Power.

Ramona earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Illinois State University and is an Illinois Registered Certified Public Accountant
