COVID-19 transmission is up again, especially after the Thanksgiving holiday. Nearly all of those cases are caused by the Delta variant. Meanwhile, the state's public health department this week announced the newly discovered Omicron variant has been confirmed in Illinois.

Also, a state lawmaker put forth a controversial plan to require the unvaccinated to pay for their health costs if they contract COVID-19. It's an unlawful idea and he received plenty of pushback and even threats.

We'll discuss that and more on State Week. Our panel includes host Sean Crawford, Statehouse Editor Hannah Meisel and Emeritus Professor Charlie Wheeler. Our guest is the Gray Television Illinois Capitol Bureau Chief Mike Miletich.
