Litchfield Marijuana Facility Hits Snag

Plans to build a medical marijuana facility in the south-central Illinois city of Litchfield have run into obstacles.
 
 Department of Agriculture officials say the permit in that district is now under review. Department spokeswoman Kristi Jones declined to provide details.
 
 In February, Gov. Bruce Rauner's administration named Compass Ventures as the  winner of the lone permit to grow marijuana in the four-county district.
 
 Sherry Powers of Compass Ventures says the company is ``working through''
issues with the state. She declined to discuss specifics.
 
 Litchfield City Administrator Tonya Flannery says the city would be able to
reclaim land purchased by Compass Ventures if the permit isn't awarded.
 
 Springfield resident Mark Strawn is part of a group that applied for a permit
in the same district. He says the state has been ``extremely tight-lipped.''
