Business Report: 5 Years Of Video Gambling; Springfield Comprehensive Plan Coming

SJ-R

Sean Crawford talks with the State Journal-Register Business Editor Tim Landis.

This week:

* Video gambling at 5:  Number of terminals statewide just passed 27,000 and headed for 28,000, according to state report; Springfield continues to lead all cities, though some -- Aurora, East Dundee, Washington and Champaign have approved or are considering moratoriums on new machines.

* Springfield comprehensive plan: First rewrite in 17 years should be released by end of year; details to come but community feedback says city needs to work on appearance and consistent development.

* Binny's Beverage Depot of Chicago to open next month in former Staples space at Sherwood Plaza on Wabash; first of many to come for that big renovation project.
