Business Report: DHS Employees On The Move; Gas Tax Hike For Springfield?

SJ-R

Tim Landis, Business Editor of the State Journal-Register, joins Sean Crawford.

This week, they discuss a planned move of Department of Human Services employees to the former Iles Park Place.  Who is moving and what else is planned for the location?

A Springfield city council proposal would hike the gas tax by a couple of cents to pay for road repairs.  Decatur recently gave the go ahead to raise it's tax.  But it's still a tough sell, even if the price at the pump remains low.

And Tim explains "weed blaster" technology, which relies on high-pressure organic grit-fertilizer to kill weeds as an alternative to herbicides; mostly for organic farmers, though a Minnesota researcher has experimented with corn and soybeans.

Read the stories Tim is working on daily in the SJ-R.
