Business Report: Two Brothers Lounge Closing; Donnie B's Relocating

SJ-R

State Journal-Register Business Editor Tim Landis talks with us about the planned closures of a longtime tavern and a comedy club.   And we hear about changes coming to the MacArthur Park Apartments:

* MacArthur Park Apartments: A Kansas company plans to buy and renovate to the tune of $20M the apartments on MacArthur Boulevard pending Illinois Housing Development Authority approval of $16M in bonds to help with the cost.  The arrangement means the units would have to remain affordable apartments for low and middle income.  But, of course, there are some doubts out there on whether current residents could remain.

* Two Brothers Lounge: The owner plan to close the popular downtown watering hole to concentrate on restaurants and a new bar. He also says downtown "bar" traffic has shifted to 3 a.m. bars on the plaza; Two Brothers is a 1 a.m. bar. It's been in business on East Monroe for nearly 70 years

*Donnie B's Comedy Club has lost its lease at the Route 66 Hotel and Conference Center.   But the owner says he plans to reopen at an undisclosed location.
