This fun and interactive program explores different modes of transportation in Lincoln’s time — by land, water, and more. We’ll dive into the exciting story of young Abraham Lincoln’s flatboat adventure and discover how it helped shape his journey toward leadership. Perfect for curious learners and history explorers!
This is a free program, but advance registration is required. The program is for third through fifth graders only.
North America's largest interactive comedy murder mystery dinner theatre show is now playing in Springfield, IL! Solve a hilarious true crime murder mystery while you feast on a fantastic dinner. Just beware! The culprit is hiding in plain sight somewhere in the room, and you may find yourself as a Prime Suspect before you know it!
Join us for an event that is very different from a traditional mystery dinner show. Our actors are not dressed in costume and are hidden in the audience! This results in a fun, social and interactive evening suitable for all adults.
Each ticket includes our signature award-winning mystery dinner theatre show, along with a full plated dinner, waitstaff gratuity, and plenty of surprises during the show.

GRIEFSHARE grief recovery and support group will meet at the Parish Hall at Trinity Lutheran School, 515 S. MacArthur Blvd., Springfield. The fall session will begin on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 from 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm and meets weekly for 13 weeks. GriefShare features nationally recognized experts on grief recovery topics including "Is This Normal?," "The Challenges of Grief," "Grief and Your Relationships," "Why," and "Guilt and Anger." Thanks to a grant from Thrivent Financial, the workbook fees for this session will be waived. Reserve your place for our first Adams Street Family Reunion, celebrating Kidzeum and raising funds needed to serve the kids who are a part of our Springfield family. Our first annual fundraiser will include some Adams Street family favorites from Café Moxo, Custom Cup, Buzz Bomb, and Whimsy Tea. There will also be a silent auction, trivia games, and other surprises based on the original Addams Family characters, and goodie bags for all. We will have an official unveiling of our new courtyard furniture. We so hope you can join us for this once-in-a-lifetime fun event! Adults only, please.

More than a year after a major fire, downtown Springfield continues to face adversity, including the closure and boarding up of the Wyndham hotel and several businesses announcing their closure. Join the Citizens Club of Springfield for a panel discussion on the area's challenges, what's being done and potential models for the future. Presenters will include Jay Shanle, communications director, Downtown Springfield Inc.; Judy Tighe, executive director, Jacksonville Main Street; and Michael Higgins, owner, Maldaner's.
Step back in time as Cherry and Jerry bring you some hit tunes and rarely played gems from the ragtime era. With a focus on ragtime, early blues, and jazz, you'll hear enduring songs such as St. Louis Blues and The Entertainer along with great songs that they've dusted off and brought back to life. Cherry & Jerry” is Isaac Cherry on percussion and Jerry Rabushka on piano; they focus mainly on music from 1900-1920: ragtime, early blues and jazz, and popular songs from back in the day.Performances include well known tunes such as The Entertainer, St. Louis Blues, Georgia on My Mind, Stormy Weather, etc as well as rarely played music from the era, for a unique take on America’s first pop music. The St. Louis duo has toured music of the ragtime era throughout the region, appearing at libraries, museums, pubs and restaurants, special events, senior communities, and more.Recent appearances include: Illinois State Fair, DuQuoin State Fair, George Washington Carver National Monument, Diamond, MO; DuSable Black History Museum in Chicago Missouri History Museum, St. Louis, MO; Big River Steampunk Festival, Hannibal, MO.

“Abe for All” is a series of learning experiences to support and promote diversity and inclusion as we work to make President Lincoln’s legacy more accessible to all. Sign language interpreters will be present throughout the museum, including inside the theater productions to sign the presentations as they are running. A series of QR codes to present closed captioned videos for permanent content inside our museum Journeys will be provided. NOTE: You will need to bring your own device to view this content as devices are not provided.
