The History of Hutchinson's Cemetery - Sept. 17

"Quite a City of the Dead: The Rise and Fall of Springfield's Hutchinson's Cemetery" will be presented by Erica Holst. The cemetery was the first private burial ground in Springfield, established in 1843 at what is now Springfield High School. She talks about those who were buried at Hutchinson's, which were removed and re-buried at Oak Ridge in 1874. Holst is Illinois State Museum Curator of History.
