Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot abruptly sacked CPD Chief Eddie Johnson this week, accusing the department veteran of lying to her over the details of an incident in which he was found slumped over the steering wheel of his government vehicle. Johnson denies wrongdoing.
The Lightfoot administration is also reportedly retooling after failing to win passage of her legislative priorities in the fall veto session.
Meanwhile, a group of House Republicans called for a special session dedicated to ethics, while the Chicago Tribune reported several people interviewed by federal prosecutors and FBI agents say investigators are asking about House Speaker Michael Madigan.
