WATCH: Daycare Providers Confront Rep. Dunkin

Amanda Vinicky

Illinois state Rep. Ken Dunkin, a Democrat from Chicago, made headlines in September when he skipped votes on two controversial measures Democrats wanted to pass. His colleagues are trying again Tuesday with one of them — a measure to reverse Gov. Bruce Rauner's cuts to a program that helps low-income parents pay for day care.

Once again, attention is on Dunkin. This time, he's at least in Springfield. But he's indicated he'll side with the Republican governor, rather than fellow Democrats and child care advocates.

When a mom and group of daycare providers stopped Dunkin in the Capitol, the exchange got heated.
