Donald Trump To Make Campaign Stop In Springfield

Jason Parrott/TSPR

The presidential campaign is coming to Springfield.

Republican contender Donald Trump plans a campaign event Monday, Nov. 9 at the Prairie Capital Convention Center.

Trump has been leading or near the top in most polls.  He's received plenty of attention, especially for what many view as his unfiltered style.

While candidates have spent much of their time in the early primary and caucus states, like Iowa and New Hampshire, Illinois could prove a pivotal state if the race is close into the spring.

The monday event is set for 7 p.m. and is free, although tickets are required.  Doors will open earlier to allow the crowd to enter.

Kent Gray of Springfield has been named as state director of the Trump campaign.
