Doris Kearns Goodwin To Be Awarded Lincoln Leadership Prize

A well-known presidential historian and Pulitzer Prize-winning author has been selected as the recipient of an annual award from the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library Foundation.

Doris Kearns Goodwin will receive the Lincoln Leadership Prize at the Springfield-based organization's 16th anniversary celebration. The event serves as the primary fundraiser for the foundation and benefits its museum and library.

The award celebrates an individual's lifetime of service in the spirit of President Abraham Lincoln and honors an individual who manifests character, conscience and commitment to the defining principles of democracy.
Goodwin is a life member of the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library Foundation Board. She authored ``Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln,'' which partly served as the basis of Steven Spielberg's film ``Lincoln.''

Spielberg was awarded the 2015 Lincoln Leadership Prize.
