Business Report: Income Tax Revenue; 11th Street Extension; Elijah Iles House

SJ-R

Sean Crawford talks with State Journal-Register Business Editor Tim Landis.

This week:

*Blended income tax - The rate changed mid-year so Illinois’ Department of Revenue is using a rate for next year’s returns that meets in the middle.   The new tax is bringing in revenue in line with expectations, according to the Commission on Government Forecasting and Accountability.

*Elijah Iles House - The foundation that operates the home at Seventh and Cook recently paid off the mortgage after a more than $1 million restoration of the late 1830s home; next up a carriage house for the arts, entertainment, meetings, history etc.

* 11th Street Extension - The city is getting questions about opening date in view of all the paving work.  Other utility work still needed.  Opening likely in summer 2018.

* Sangamon Valley Trail: Six mile extension of the recreational path is open on Springfield’s  west side; The trail now runs from Centennial Park to nearly the Menard County line.
