An Overview Of Racism Claims At SIU Carbondale

Since earlier this year - students at Southern Illinois University Carbondale have been urging administrators to address the racism they say they've run into on campus. In April, one black student in particular alleged that white students used racial slurs when addressing her during an open forum in a dorm. A video calling for the lynching of black students materialized on YouTube.

Meetings have been taking place to address the issues, and many students say they want to help direct diversity initiatives. WSIU's Jennifer Fuller has been covering the issue, she updated us and shared a recent interview she had with SIUC's Interim Chancellor Brad Colwell:
