Douglas Levi (Brackney)

Growing up, I was encouraged by my mother and grandmother to develop and hone my love of art. This encouragement and support was soon echoed by my teachers and other adults in my life. Since earliest memories, I have found incredible happiness in art.

My favorite subject has always been portraiture. When I create a portrait, I strive to push myself to go beyond merely capturing a likeness. I begin my portraits by sketching from a life model. Next, I use photographs and the loose sketches to fine-tune a composition that best conveys the sense of my sitter.
