Oklahoma! - July 11-12, 16-19
Oklahoma! is set in the Oklahoma Territory in 1906, and follows the romantic entanglements of farm girl Laurey Williams, who is courted by cowboy Curly McLain and the menacing farmhand Jud Fry. The story explores themes of love, rivalry, and community as it culminates in a dramatic confrontation between Curly and Jud.
The Springfield Muni celebrates their 75th anniversary in presenting Roger & Hammerstein's Oklahoma! Music by Richard Rogers with book and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II. Based on the play Green Grow the Lilacs by Lynn Riggs. Original choreography by Agnes de Mille. Sponsored by United Community Bank - The Leader in Community Banking.
