John Borling is known nationally for his poetry. He was a fighter pilot, and retired as a Major General. He also spent over six years as a prisoner of war, persevering through torture and isolation during the conflict in Vietnam.
The northern Illinois native speaks at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield on Thursday night at 6 p.m (reserve free tickets here.) He'll talk about his time served as well as his book: Taps on the Wall: Poems from the Hanoi Hilton. He spoke with NPR Illinois about the book and more:
