Christmas Archives for December 7, 2013

This is the WUIS Christmas Archives for Saturday... December 7th.  I'm Rich Bradley.

December 7, 1971... a Tuesday... and in the Illinois State Register... an ad for Christmas trees at Goldblatt's range from two and half dollars to five and a half.  The live Canadian Balsams are touted as perfect for an old-fashioned Christmas.  Buy today... Just say “Charge it!”

Some Pleasant Plains High School students are selling handmade Christmas items at tonight's basketball game and at the Christmas choral concert on the 16th.

A photograph of Dennis Allen and his sister Kendra Lynette of Pawnee... show them looking at the new life-size nativity scene purchased by the village.  Holiday party plans are being finalized by the Land of Lincoln Charter Chapter of the American Business Women's Association... and the Lake Shore Club.

The 2nd and 4th grade classes... and special ed students at Iles Elementary School... present a program called “Christmas Bells” tomorrow.  And in today's Peanuts comic strip... Lucy is still trying to get Schroeder's attention by asking him to partner with her in the Christmas skating show... but to no avail.

Today's holiday special at the Midstate Skelly Truck Plaza on Sangamon Ave... is a pork chop dinner of 2 pork chops... whipped potatoes and gravy... applesauce or coleslaw... rolls and butter... all for a dollar 49.

That's the WUIS Christmas Archives for Saturday... December 7th.  I'm Rich Bradley.
