The Illinois Department of Public Health will test people for COVID-19 at the State Fairgrounds on Wednesdays, beginning today.

The drive-through facility is open, entering through Gate 6, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. every Wednesday through the end of August.

SIU Medicine’s testing site at the Sangamon County Department of Public Health is closed Wednesdays. It will still offer screening Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

At both sites, a person does not need to have symptoms or have been in contact with someone with the disease. Both will also screen children.

Anyone over 18, regardless of symptoms, can be screened for COVID-19 at the Walgreens site, 1155 N. 9th Street. To schedule an appointment, visit their website. Their hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Anyone with symptoms or who has been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 can be screened at the Memorial Medical Center Respiratory Clinic at 2950 S. Sixth Street. For appointments, call 217-588-4019. The clinic is open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
