The news department is seeking part-time fill-in anchor/reporters who are available either weekdays from 5:30 to 9 a.m. and/or 3:30 to 6 p.m. Apply by June 5, 5 p.m.

Mike has been the fill-in host for the local portions of “Morning Edition” and “All Things Considered” as needed since December 2024.

He is a veteran news anchor from Southwestern Pennsylvania with an award-winning resume. Mike received the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters (PAB) award for “Outstanding Local Radio Newscast” in 2010 and 2011 (for WMBS-AM in Uniontown, PA) and in 2013 and 2014 (for WCNS-AM in Latrobe, PA). In 2012, he received the PAB award for “Outstanding Radio Commercial” for WMBS. He left the radio field upon moving to Springfield in 2014.

He has been an employee at the University of Illinois Springfield since October 2014, working as an Academic Advisor since June 2024. Since 2021, he has served as the primary Public Address announcer for UIS Prairie Stars home games for men’s and women’s basketball, and since 2023, for men’s and women’s soccer, volleyball, softball, and baseball. He also has a home-based voiceover studio where he produces audio for radio and web ads, training videos, and other projects for local and out-of-market clientele alike.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications from Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, PA.
