Business Report: Executive Mansion Plans; Springfield Gambling; High Speed Trains Coming

NPR Illinois' Sean Crawford talks with Tim Landis, Business Editor for the State Journal-Register.

This week's topics:

* The Executive Mansion repairs.  What's involved in $15m planned for the home?  It's private money being raised, but will be competitively bid.  Over $4m has been raised so far.

* Be aware! Faster trains are coming. Signs warning of train speeds "in excess of 80 mph" are first indication of 110 mph service to come in 2017. Safety regulators are trying to educate the public now about significant changes.

* Local gaming parlors/restaurants/taverns continue to expand. Even though there seems to be general agreement the market is way past saturated. Springfield has the most gambling locations in the state.
