There’s growing concern about methamphetamine in the drug overdose crisis. Numbers just out from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention show deaths linked to the stimulants are rising fast while deaths from opioids decline.
And unlike opioids, there are no approved treatment medications.
That has some patients taking desperate steps while they wait for meth treatment options. Martha Bebinger (@mbebinger) from member station WBUR reports.
