What Can Illinois Do Better With Budgeting?

NPR illinois

Illinois government has some deep fiscal problems.  A backlog of unpaid bills, pension debt and a growing list of infrastructure needs.  The problems can be overwhelming, but there are some best practices that can be taken to improve the situation.

Prof.  Beverly Bunch with the University of Illinois Springfield has worked with the non-partisan Volcker Allianceand studied what other states are doing right and wrong.  She’ll be part of a panel discussion September 17 in Chicago at a conference being held by the Alliance and the Federal Reserve Bank.

Bunch spoke with Sean Crawford about how Illinois stacks up with other states.
