Cairo, Illinois Not Unlike Many Midwest Towns

Cairo is at the bottom of Illinois. And not just geographically.  Poverty is high in a town mired in one of the most de-populating counties in the U.S. 

Kirk Siegler of NPR recently visited Cairo for his beat covering the urban-rural divide.  He talked with Sean Crawford about the challenges facing Cairo and similar communities.
