Sean Crawford talks with State Journal-Register Business Editor Tim Landis.

This week:

* Piper Glen Golf Course in Springfield sold to group of local investors who plan further course, clubhouse upgrades.

* Binny's Beverage Depot going into old Staples space on Wabash Avenue. It's the first piece of a major renovation of Sherwood Plaza and the former Kmart.

* The Gillett House, a nearly 150 year old home constructed by central Illinois cattleman John Dean Gillett, is to be auctioned along with nearly 800 acres in August. There is lots of local interest because of historic ties to Elkhart, Lincoln etc. and what  a 33 room, 10,000-square-foot mansion could be worth. It could cost up to $150,000 just to enter the bidding depending on number of tracts sought.
