Brazil COVID-19 Death Toll Nears 40,000

It’s been a tumultuous week in Brazil as President Jair Bolsonaro gets widespread pushback for his handling of the coronavirus, which has now claimed nearly 40,000 Brazilian lives.

Here & Now‘s Tonya Mosley talks with NPR’s South America correspondent Philip Reeves on the latest COVID-19 numbers and the country’s growing pro-democracy political opposition.
