The Illinois Coalition Against Domestic Violence works to end domestic violence in Illinois through policy change and by providing services to a network or organizations.

Vickie Smith is the president and CEO of the Illinois Coalition Against Domestic Violence. She spoke to Community Voices about an interaction with a young woman who inspired her to help others. She also shared signs to look for when interacting with someone who may be experiencing abuse, and how we can raise young people to bring an end to domestic violence.

Vanessa is the Community Voices Production Coordinator. Reach Vanessa at vfergu3@uis.edu.
