The Scene was our Illinois arts & culture podcast through 2017. Rachel Otwell curated the podcast which provided full-length stories and follow-ups, links to other reports, and conversations with you.This podcast contained a range of stories from the world of arts & culture, from visual art to Springfield's DIY music scene, to profiles of interesting local characters. It's time for your weekly dose in local arts and culture. Scott Faingold and I are at it once again, this week with quite the array of happenings and cultural picks... Please, have a listen, we insist:

   Events discussed this week include:

  • Diaper Rash, side-project of Brandon Carnes will play at Black Sheep this weekend, along with a bunch of other bands. Check out the site for more info.
  • Sebastian Bach plays at Boondocks on Friday night. Info here.
  • The new musical James and the Giant peach will be performed at The Hoogland. Info here.
  • A benefit for Lindsey Sharp's memorial fund will be at Brewhaus on Sunday. No cover charge, but donations accepted. Doors at 5, show at 7 featuring The Timmys and Jukebox Cassanova.
  • There will be a documentary screening on coal ash at 6:30 on Tuesday night at the Lincoln Library. Info here.
  • Hank and Cupcakes and The Luzhin Defense will play at Bar None on Wednesday night - both are duos specializing in electro rock and roll. Info here.
