Presidential Candidate Interview: Green Party's Jill Stein
As the March 15th primary draws closer -- presidential candidates and their campaigns are making visits to the state. But one candidate stopped by last week who you may not know as much about. Her name is Jill Stein, and she's once again running for president, representing the Green Party.
Dr. Stein spoke to a packed theater in Springfield last Thursday, comprised mostly of students on the UIS campus. The next day, she stopped by our studios and talked about her campaign including the values her party stands for, how growing up in the state shaped the way she thinks about politics and much more. Here is the first half of that interview:
Stein also talked about how her party is engaging people of color, and how she thinks more third party representation in Illinois would be good for the political process. This part of the interview was not heard on-air, but you can listen here:
Below, you can listen to the lecture Stein presented at UIS, titled: 'Working For Our Political Environment and Personal Health':
NPR Illinois will be speaking with political candidates and/or their campaigns as interviews are made available to us.
