Thousands of people across central Illinois were rattled by an earthquake overnight. Several said they were awakened by the shaking.
The US Geological Survey reports the 3.8 magnitude quake was centered near Ohlman, south of Springfield, around 1:30 a.m. Ohlman is a small community located in Montgomery County.
The shallow quake could be felt across a large area including St. Louis, Quincy, Peoria, and Terre Haute, Indiana. No damage has been reported.
