A study released earlier this month by the National Partnership for Women & Families gave each state a letter grade based on its implementation of the federal Family and Medical Leave Act. Illinois received a B letter grade, one of 11 states to do so.
Only 1 state, California, got an A. Most states got a C or lower. Vicki Shabo is the Vice President of the group that conducted the study. She says, "Sadly most states are not doing nearly enough. People's ability to meet the dual demands of job and family should not depend on where they live or work."
