Airlines Prepare To Furlough, Lay Off Thousands As Federal Aid Runs Out

American Airlines announced that it would cut 19,000 jobs once federal aid runs out in October. Other airlines predict similarly dire circumstances as demand for air travel stagnates.

The grim forecast may spur Congress to act — or prompt President Trump to take executive action.
