This is the WUIS Christmas Archives... for Thursday... December 5th.  I'm Rich Bradley.

From the Illinois State Register... in 1975... Colder weather is forecast... with a possibility of flurries in the evening.   The "Friend-In-Deed" fund is getting a good start... thanks to the owners of the local Mexican restaurant... Taco Gringo.

Some upcoming Holiday Events include:  A holiday auction, bake sale and bazaar at the 1st United Methodist Church... The Divernon American Legion Christmas party and gift exchange... and... New Berlin's annual Christmas pageant.

4th & 5th grade students at Vachel Lindsey School have opted to send gifts to orphans in Grundy, Virginia.   The students are pictured on page 4... loading boxes onto a bus.

Window service at the downtown post office on Cook St. is expanding to accommodate Holiday mail which needs to be sent earlier due to a fuel shortage.

The 1974 World Almanac & Book of Facts is now on sale for $2 and a quarter at the Illinois State Journal-Register customer service counters.

If you're between the ages of 7 & 25... deep in the paper you'll find out how to apply for honorary mayor of Santa Claus, Indiana.  Three finalists will be chosen from the applications and invited to a December 22nd dinner where one will be selected mayor.

That's the WUIS Christmas Archives... for Thursday... December 5th.  I'm Rich Bradley.
