North Carolina Congressman Walter Jones died Sunday. The 13-term Republican was best known for coining the term “freedom fries” to protest France’s opposition to U.S. military action in Iraq. Later, he regretted his vote to support the invasion, and over the years wrote thousands of letters to families who lost loved ones in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. WUNC’s Jeff Tiberii (@j_tibs) shares a profile of Jones.
