Portland electronic musician Natasha Kmeto is finding her voice in more ways than one. While her 2013 album, Crisis, put the emphasis on layered synth parts and subtle mood changes, her new record, Inevitable, is all about soul. Kmeto's robust vocals dominate the mix, and her personal lyrics sound rawer and more confident than ever.
Kmeto recently finished a series of tour dates with TV On The Radio and says the experience of playing big, sold-out venues drove her to make her sound hookier. "I wanted to write the closest thing to a pop record that I could," she tells OPB. She also recently became engaged to the woman who inspired the lyrics of Inevitable. Here, she gives a marvelous performance of "I Thought You Had A Boyfriend."
