Greensky Bluegrass returns to Mountain Stage, recorded live at the Culture Center Theater in Charleston, W.Va. Winner of the Telluride Bluegrass Festival Band Competition nearly a decade ago, Greensky Bluegrass found success by playing nearly 200 shows a year and sharing the stage with legends like Tony Rice, Peter Rowan and Sam Bush.
While its members started out mastering traditional bluegrass sounds in their native Michigan, they eventually began to use their instruments to craft original songs that ventured into exploratory jams; along the way, they touch on the music of Talking Heads, Jimi Hendrix, The Grateful Dead and Bob Marley. The band's latest, If Sorrows Swim, topped the bluegrass album charts upon its release.
