KEXP Presents: Tweedy

It has the makings of an indie movie plot: While a hip musician dad's wife undergoes cancer therapy, he records an album with his son. The real story is a bit more complicated, but that's essentially the tale of Tweedy, the latest project of Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy and his son Spencer. The duo recorded most of Sukierae (that's Sue Miller Tweedy's nickname) themselves, creating 20 mostly buoyant tracks celebrating life's ups and downs.

But when it came time to take Sukierae on the road, the Tweedys extended their family to include a tightknit group of friends — bassist Darin Gray, guitarist Jim Elkington, keyboardist Liam Cunningham and his sister Sima as backup singer. All six "Tweedys" (legal name changes pending) crammed into the cozy KEXP studio to perform as part of our Live Streaming Video series. Watch the video now (Independent Spirit Award pending).
