Jim Allmon is the Sangamon County Coroner. He will serve in the sheriff's job after Jack Campbell resigns and until a new sheriff is named.

Bodies were found decomposing, families given strangers’ ashes in months following coroner’s complaint.

“When we lose a loved one, we expect a funeral home to respect the remains of our friends and family,” said Turner.

The regulatory action follows allegations of improper handling of remains.

The Sangamon County Coroner said questions continue about the identification of cremated remains and proper handling of bodies.
