West Side Story Brings Love & Hate To The Muni

It's a story as old as time: Boy meets girl. They fall in love. Tragedy ensues. In modern day, a story like West Side Story, which throws in violence and racial tension for good measure, is just as timely as ever. It's being performed at The Muni for the first time in nearly 15 years, and opens this weekend. (Show times and tickets, here.)

Director Anna Bussing confesses she's not sure how many hours have been spent preparing for the show at Springfield's premiere out-door community theater, but they are countless. The dance numbers are particularly grueling, and Bussing would know - she also served as choreographer. She, as well as actor Paul Elders, joined me for this interview about the production:
