Julie Ratz, artistic director at the Springfield Ballet Company (SBC) joins Bea Bonner to discuss the arts nonprofit and its role in enriching our community. A legacy goal of the SBC is to provide the opportunity to work with other dancers having similar ambitions, to be able to discuss problems, exchange ideas, and at the same time gain a working knowledge of the discipline and dedication demanded of professional dancers.

Originally aired May 3, 2021.

Ratz has performed with the Springfield Ballet Company; ISU Dance Theatre; Twin Cities Ballet Company; Scottish American Ballet in Edinburgh, Scotland; and Harvard University Summer Dance.

She has received the Springfield Area Arts Council choreography award, and has been a member of the Illinois Arts Council Partners in Excellence and Dance panels. Julie has performed in, choreographed and directed many productions for Over the Moon Productions (OTM), Springfield Theatre Centre (STC), Muni and the Hoogland Center for the Arts (HCFTA).
