The former YWCA building in Springfield is in the city's downtown historic district, but an historic preservation group says it's in dire need of repair.
Landmarks Illinois put the building on its annual list of the state's most endangered historic sites.
The group's president Bonnie McDonald says the building ... which is more than 100-years-old... is in danger of being torn down.
"City officials announced in January of this year that the YWCA building was damaged beyond repair and announced plans to demolish the historic property," McDonald said.
The YWCA got a reprieve after local residents opposed that plan.
The city is accepting proposals to redevelop the location which includes the Y-W-C-A?. Those are due by the end of the month.
