M-F 11-Noon | A news magazine that offers significant, lively and far-from-usual perspectives. The Takeaway is all about the American conversation.During his distinguished broadcasting career, host John Hockenberry has collected four Emmy Awards, three Peabody Awards, and an Edward R. Murrow Award. He's a gifted storyteller and advocate for all those who seek to understand the world around them. No one is better than the original host of Talk of the Nation. |
M-Th 1-3 p.m. | Here & Now is public radio's daily midday news magazine, bringing you the news that breaks after Morning Edition and before All Things Considered.Emmy and Peabody award winning Robin Young brings more than 25 years of broadcast experience to her role as host of Here & Now. Co-host Jeremy Hobson worked at Marketplace for six years and was also a producer for NPR's All Things Considered and Wait, Wait... Don't Tell Me! in addition to experience as a reporter for several NPR member stations including WILL in Urbana. |
M-F at Noon | Illinois Edition celebrates its first year on the air as a daily show by adding an encore replay each night at 7 p.m.Illinois Edition, hosted by WUIS News Director Sean Crawford, is an informative hour of regional news and arts stories featuring the newsmakers in our community. Contributors include Peter Gray and Rachel Otwell; along with Bill Wheelhouse from the Harvest Desk; and Amanda Vinicky and Brian Mackey from the Statehouse bureau. |
M-Th 10-11 p.m. | Tell Me More focuses on the way we live, intersect and collide in a culturally diverse world. Each day's show features a variety of segments examining U.S. and international news, ideas and people; its range of topics covers politics, faith and spirituality, the family, finance, arts and culture and lifestyle."Tell Me More lets me bring together two longtime passions," says host Michel Martin, "the intimacy and warmth you experience with powerful radio, and the lively, sharp debate about things going on in the world that I enjoy having with friends of diverse backgrounds." |
Su 3-4 p.m. | NPR's Ask Me Another is a lively hour of puzzles, word games, and trivia played in front of (and with) a live audience. Ask Me Another's entertaining mélange of brainteasers and fun is a descendant of Weekend Edition Sunday's Puzzle Segment with Will Shortz, but infused with the vibrancy and quick wit of Wait, Wait...Don't Tell Me.Ask Me Another host, noted comedian and storyteller Ophira Eisenberg, guides listeners with her witty banter aided by the comedic riffs and songs of house musician Jonathan Coulton. Each episode features an interview with a VIP (that's Very Important Puzzlers -- notable actors, comedians, and authors whose identities are revealed via puzzle clues throughout the show), who then takes a turn in the contestant's chair facing trivia games written especially for him or her. |
F 7-8 p.m. | TED Radio Hour is a journey through fascinating ideas, astonishing inventions and new ways to think and create. Each episode includes riveting excerpts from the renowned TED stage where some of the world's deepest thinkers and innovators are invited to give the 18-minute "talk of their lives." The TED Radio Hour team takes the most compelling talks and organizes them around a common theme. But we don't stop with the TEDTalks. Host Guy Raz interviews the guests, delving deeper, dissecting the speaker's ideas and posing probing questions you’d like to hear answered. |
