Join Us For A Performance Chat With Fumée Gypsy Project

fumeegypsyproject.com

Come see Fumée perform and be interviewed by Rachel Otwell at noon on Wednesday, November 19th. That will be at WUIS, on the campus of University of Illinois Springfield (in the WUIS building.)

Lead singer Christy Bennett is a Springfield native who now lives in Chicago where she is a fulltime musician. She writes: "I went to grade school at Pleasant Plains and high school at Sacred Heart Griffin. I got my start in music through the music programs at both schools as well as at the Springfield Muni and St. Agnes church choir ... The band consists of Casey Nielsen on guitar, Nate Baker on mandolin, Christian Dillingham on bass and myself on vocals and accordion. For the CD Release, we will be joined by special guest Sam Crain, a Springfield jazz guitarist. Our music is a mix of gypsy jazz standards and french music from the 1930s and 40s."

Space is limited to 50 people and is first-come, first-sit. Doors will close at 12:05.

Rachel Otwell of the Illinois Times is a former NPR Illinois reporter.
